Defining Group Access to a Forum

One way you can control access to a forum in a conference is to limit access to a specific group. You do this with the Forum Manager where you can define a forum to be accessible by a specific group even while the conference has no groups assigned.

The Forum Manager allows you to define two permission options:

You can use this way of assigning permissions by forum to limit either access to a forum, or moderation of a forum to a particular group.

Limiting group access to a particular forum

You can give a group access to an entire conference using the Conference Manager (see Giving a Group Access to a Conference for more information). But you may want to give a group read-only access to a specific forum. See Giving a group read-only access to a forum for more information.

To allow a group to access all forums in a conference, use the Conference Manager to specify group permissions for forums access. See Viewing or Changing Group Permissions for more information about group permissions.

Limiting group moderation to a particular forum

You can give a group access to all forums available in a conference. You can also limit a group's access to a one or more specific forums. See Giving a Group Access to a Conference for more information.
