Corporate Counsel - Irvine, CA


SUMMARY You will provide legal advice and counseling to improve all aspects of Kia Dealer network performance, which currently consists of nearly 800 Dealers throughout the U.S. In particular, you will provide advice on Kia Dealer establishment, Dealer termination and wind-down, Dealer transfers of ownership, and Dealer operations. Your focus will include legal issues related to sales and distribution, service operations, facility improvements, marketing, and the negotiation and drafting of Dealer agreements. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY Provide ongoing legal advice and services to Executive Team relating to Dealer franchise and distribution law. Work extensively with Executives and Managers in the Retail Development group to obtain sales and network performance objectives for the Company. Review all Company policies related to Dealer network planning, Dealer sales and financial performance, Dealer service operations, Dealer establishment, Dealer transfers, Dealer facility requirements, Dealer sales incentives, and Dealer audits. Assist with the drafting of policy documents, letters, Dealer agreements, and Dealer performance reviews. Train managers in all departments of the Company concerning legal issues related to the Kia Dealer network. Assist with company litigation as needed, including risk assessment, case strategy, settlement, budgeting, discovery and other case management activities. Proactively identify and address other legal matters outside of the Dealer franchise area. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelorís degree Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school California BAR admission required Overall Related Experience: 5 - 7 years of professional legal experience from a top tier law firm. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, both verbally and in writing. Excellent skills with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. Outstanding writing and editing skills.
